Make a Difference as a NBNSC Board or CNSC Exam Committee Member
Are you currently certified as a nutrition support practitioner by the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification (NBNSC)? Do you want to ensure the delivery of safe and effective nutrition support by certified professionals? Do you want to utilize your leadership skills to help advance the nutrition support profession?
If you answered yes to the above questions, then this might be the opportunity for you. The NBNSC is currently accepting applications for several open positions on the NBNSC Board of Directors and the Certified Nutrition Support Clinician® (CNSC®) Exam Committee. The NBNSC Board and CNSC® Exam Committee are interdisciplinary to reflect the interdisciplinary nature of nutrition support.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS OF THE CNSC EXAM COMMITTEE (3 TOTAL)
- Physician member for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
- Advanced Practice Provider member for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
- Pharmacist member for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
Position Qualifications and Expectations
- The physician member must be a licensed physician and hold a current NBNSC certification as a nutrition support practitioner (CNSC®)
- The advanced practice provider member must be licensed as a nurse practitioner or physician associate and hold a current NBNSC certification as a nutrition support practitioner (CNSC®)
- The pharmacist member must be a licensed pharmacist and hold a current NBNSC certification as a nutrition support practitioner (CNSC®)
- Exam committee members are responsible for generating questions for inclusion in the exam item bank
- Exam committee members may be asked to chair and organize an item review workshop in the area in which they reside
- Exam committee members participate in-person in a two-day exam development meeting prior to ASPEN’s annual conference each year
- Committee members are expected to serve as experts in test item writing, reviewing, and editing, in establishing the validity of the examination, and in recommending to the Board of Directors standards for passing and failing the examination
- Individual members of the CNSC® exam committee are prohibited from teaching courses, writing chapters, or reviewing manuscripts designated as exam preparation

- Dietitian certifee director for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
- Nurse certifee director for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
- Physician certifee director for a three-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
- Physician certifee director for a one-year term beginning April 1, 2024 (1 position)
Position Qualifications and Expectations:
- The dietitian certifee director must be a registered dietitian/nutritionist and hold a current NBNSC certification as a nutrition support practitioner (CNSC®)
- The nurse certifee director must be a licensed nurse and hold a current NBNSC certification as a nutrition support practitioner (CNSC®)
- The physician certifee director must be a licensed physician and hold a current NBNSC certification as a nutrition support practitioner (CNSC®)
- Prior experience as a member of an exam committee preferred
- Certifee Directors participate in monthly conference calls that are one hour long and an annual in person meeting held in conjunction with ASPEN’s annual conference.
- Certifee directors work strategically to continuously evaluate and improve the NBNSC’s certification program.
- Certifee directors may be asked to work on special projects relating to the NBNSC and nutrition support certification
- Individual members of the Board of Directors are prohibited from teaching courses, writing chapters, or reviewing manuscripts designated as exam preparation
*The NBNSC will accept a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and conflict of interest statement from individuals in other disciplines (i.e. dietitian, nurse, pharmacist, physician) to consider for an at-large member of the board and in the event there is not an advanced practice provider to fill the open positions. If submitting for an at-large position, please clearly specify (i.e. At Large – Board).
