ASPEN Appoints Kelly Kinnare as Director, Development and Strategic Partnerships

The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) has announced that Kelly Kinnare, MS, RD, LDN, CNSC, is joining the organization as Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships. Ms. Kinnare will lead ASPEN’s corporate relations and business development. She is charged with deepening current industry partner relationships, establishing new relationships, and identifying opportunities for ASPEN’s financial and strategic growth.

“ASPEN will benefit from Ms. Kinnare’s 17 years of experience in nutrition support and her tenure as director of clinical nutrition at Option Care Health, where she developed strategic plans that addressed changes in the healthcare industry and the clinical nutrition marketplace,” said ASPEN Chief Executive Officer Wanda Johnson, CMP, CAE.

Ms. Kinnare was responsible for building internal and external relationships while at Option Care Health, a leading provider of home infusion services. She was the clinical nutrition contact for Option Care Health’s industry partners, including Abbott, Baxter, Cardinal Health, Fresenius Kabi, Moog, Nestlé, and the Oley Foundation.

At ASPEN, Ms. Kinnare will serve as staff liaison for the Corporate Scientific Advisory Council (CSAC) and for international clinical nutrition organizations, including ESPEN, FELANPE, and PENSA. “We know Ms. Kinnare will be an asset to ASPEN in this space with her background in fostering and developing relationships,” added Ms. Johnson.

“I look forward to each and every responsibility of this role, especially the opportunity to work with ASPEN’s CSAC and the ASPEN Board of Directors in charting new ways for our association to grow,” said Ms. Kinnare.

Ms. Kinnare received a Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Western Michigan University and then completed a master’s degree and dietetic internship at RUSH University in Chicago. She served as a nutrition support dietitian at RUSH University Medical Center for seven years and has spent the last 10 years of her career in home infusion.

An ASPEN member since 2005, Ms. Kinnare has held leadership positions at the local chapter in Chicago, serving as program chair and then as president from 2013 to 2014. And her research has led to more than 15 publications in nutrition support, including peer-reviewed manuscripts, review articles, book chapters, and abstracts.

Ms. Kinnare will take over the role held by Patricia Anthony, MS, RD, FASPEN, who is retiring. “ASPEN currently enjoys strong and mutually beneficial relationships with its industry and international partners, thanks to the outstanding work and leadership of Pat,” said Ms. Johnson. “We have all benefitted from her tireless dedication, knowledge, and true understanding of teamwork and partnership. We wish Pat well in her retirement and in her next chapter, traveling the world.” Colleagues and friends who would like to send a message to Pat as she bids farewell and sets out on her travels can do so on her Kudoboard.

And in looking to her new role with ASPEN, Ms. Kinnare shared, “This organization has given me the opportunity to develop myself, to promote my research, to share my expertise, and to further my career. I am eager to help further and extend these opportunities to others.”
