ASPEN is pleased to sign on to this important declaration on the Human Right to Nutritional Care. Clinical Nutrition and Human Rights: International Position Paper

The International Working Group for Patients’ Rights to Nutritional Care, of which ASPEN is a member, presented its position paper on nutritional care as a human right that is intrinsically linked to the right to food and the right to health. The paper discusses the importance of a human rights-based approach to clinical nutrition and to developing a moral, political, and legal focus for nutrition care. Childhood Obesity Prevention Videos

Cartagena Declaration Video

FELANPE has released a short video explaining the Cartagena Declaration, an international declaration on the right to nutritional care and the fight against malnutrition. The declaration was signed by all FELANPE presidents on May 3, 2019. Watch the video here.  


Specialty Sections 

Ibero-Latin American Section (ILAS) 

The purpose of the ILAS is to disseminate information on nutrition support therapy with the intent of empowering providers with the necessary knowledge to provide better quality patient care for those individuals requiring nutritional support, particularly for Spanish/Portuguese speaking professionals. 

International Clinical Ethics Section (I.C. Ethics) 

The purpose of the ICES is to achieve a patient-centered focus in the management of nutrition support (artificial nutrition and hydration), including options not to provide the therapy for patient.

International Clinical Nutrition Section (ICNS)

The purpose of the ICNS is to support and encourage international healthcare professional's involvement in ASPEN and establish a forum for the exchange of ideas and practices worldwide.

Global Nutrition Partnership Program (GNP)

The Global Nutrition Partnership Program (GNP) allows international sister societies from countries classified by the World Bank as low or middle income economies to have a group of their members join ASPEN for a reduced membership fee.

Continuing Education

ASPEN has collaborated with the Scientific Investigations and Global Network of Scientists (SIGNS) to offer ASPEN’s Nutrition Support Fundamentals Course virtually to healthcare professionals. SIGNS, a global leader in virtual health training and research, focuses on improving skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals in resource-poor countries.

Professional members include dietitians, nurses, pharmacists, PhDs, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. 

Non-Health professionals please pay the Physician rate.

* Trainee/New Practitioner membership is available to those who are within two years of graduation or receiving licensure to practice in the field. All those completing paid internships, fellowships, or residencies may apply as trainees. Copy of licensure information or letter from program director is required with application. Trainees and New Practitioners receive ASPEN journals in electronic format only via Sage Journals Online. View Eligibility Chart  

** Student membership is available to undergraduate and graduate students taking a minimum of 12 credit hours and all those completing unpaid internships, capstone experiences, or any form of prerequisite training for graduation from a degree-granting institution.
