New ASPEN Director of Clinical Practice, Quality, and Advocacy

Allison Blackmer_2021ASPEN is pleased to announce the appointment of Allison Blackmer, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS, FCCP, FASPEN as its new Director of Clinical Practice, Quality, and Advocacy, responsible for working with members and external organizations to advance the science and practice of clinical nutrition.

Dr. Blackmer previously served on faculty at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and as a clinical pharmacist at the Special Care Clinic at Children’s Hospital Colorado (2014-2021) as well as faculty at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and clinical pharmacist at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, Michigan Medicine (2010-2014). She received her PharmD at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008 followed by two years of post-graduate residency training at the University of North Carolina Medical Center. 

An active ASPEN member since 2010, she received a Rhoads Research Foundation grant in 2012, was a candidate for the Vars Award in 2014, and has served on many committees over the years. Allison is thrilled to join the ASPEN staff, stating “nutrition support is a passion and has played an important role in my career, both in my day-to-day practice and through active engagement with ASPEN.”
