Committee, Subcommittee and Task Force Key Definitions:
Committee
a group of individuals appointed by the ASPEN President-Elect, to focus on certain areas of the organization’s overall goals. Committee members and its chair are appointed based on their experience and activity in the particular committee’s focus. Terms are one-year, with a maximum of two one-year terms of office.
Subcommittee
a group of individuals selected by the President-Elect works in cooperation with its parent committee to focus on particular tasks or goals which have been assigned to the parent Committee. The individuals serving on a subcommittee are appointed based on their experience and activity in the particular committee’s focus. Members may or may not also serve on the parent Committee. Terms are one-year, with a maximum of two one-year terms of office, or depending on how long the focus of the subcommittee is needed. Subcommittees are led by a Subcommittee Chair.
Task Forces
a group of individuals appointed by the President to accomplish a task in a defined timeframe. Task Forces may have narrowly defined purposes, such as developing standards of practice, writing a position paper, or assisting in the development of a new program or publication. Task force terms vary depending on their purposes – they may be short-term (a few months) or long-term (more than one year) – and can be
appointed at any time during the year.
